Right outside our door, we noticed some activity on the high banks... They were in the same spot yesterday.... This track is only two years old...remember the race in 2010 when the race was stopped for hours while they tried to repair the track...right here on the first turn? Well, it appears to be near that spot where they are showing some concern....
Never fear, I will keep you updated!!
If only i could wrangle an invite from these folks...they are from Mississippi and have southern hospitality like you can't imagine. The men handle the grill and the women provide the rest...trust me...each meal is a feast! We took my shortcut to breakfast..
And I know that one day I will either fall in or be eaten by an alligator.... So far, so good!
Quite a set up, right on the track...what a view it must be.
Washing the haulers before they enter the infield...quite a process. The washers travel with NASCAR during the season...alot of time on the road. We are about to get the motor home washed. The washers move to the infield once the haulers enter and pick up more jobs from people like us. For only $110.00 anyone can have their motor homes washed by these guys. Our crew is based in Ft. Worth, Texas. What I don't get, is why do we wash it now when we will be on the road again in 5 days? Oh well, guess it is like getting your house painter...appearances!
Looking for tickets...no, we have them..Papa Joe just likes to question them.
Loving the weather and the flowers....
You too could own a palm tree for your yard....
Courtesy of Home Depot. Just seems weird to buy a palm tree! Drivers are all over Daytona signing autographs..yesterday Smoke was a Office Depot, and I just knew Joey Logano would be at Home Depot...
Well, he was...at least the cardboard version! Next door to Home Depot..a nail parlor and I convinced Papa Joe to get a pedicure...
He obliged!
He then hit the beach...well, the Speedway's version of the beach. Getting ready to unveil a new statue..... Can't figure out who yet...
New windmills on the grounds...
made out of the license plates from cars who drove cross country for COPD
This gentleman needed some water. And well, I couldn't resist taking the picture..
Merchandise trucks lined up...ready for business, and trust me, they will be busy. NASCAR fans take their shirts seriously...another thing they are serious about?
Their beer....48 cases this year. Yep,they really do sleep on that mattress. This is their 14th year here...
They call themselves the Daytona Kentucky Boys. They even gave me a can coozy!
Here they are setting up their bar. Invited me to come back later. Tonite...wheelbarrow races, and trust me...this year I will be there. It is a time honored tradition..
Ah NASCAR nation... Until later!
