Bummer

Yes race fans, you read that correctly. After hanging around the infield yesterday, hearing Lenny Kravitz, driver introductions and seeing the Blue Angel flyover... We waited, and watched...


The stands were pretty empty, and it rained and rained


Every now and then, the dryers made an attempt, to no avail. So when we looked at the forecast for Monday and saw a greater percentage of precipitation was projected than on Sunday, we beat the crowd and headed north. I know, boo.


Just look at the sky and the stands...and this was before they postponed the race. Call us old, but we really did not relish the idea of sitting in the cold rain....


Even the tunnel was wet. So, it was a great race week...let's just hope they get the race in today....doubt it, but here's hoping!

Wheelbarrow madness

Well, we went to the races...and it was as promised...crazy, fun, wild, and ridiculous. There are no words...only photos...and on disclaimer...there was one very impolite, um, lady. She exposed pretty much all of herself. I only photographed, her in her, Um, undies. Think bum in thong....continue at your own risk.

Nationwide day at Daytona

Missed me? I am reading yet another good book...


And The morning papers made Papa Joe's day... Then, she crashed AGAIN... Desperately seeking Jr's girlfriend...and I think I found her...

You see, Jr. Is 5 in Nationwide. Ran a great race, but...not to be.

After the race, they were back on the track at turn 1. What is going on?

Remember my issue over the shuttles? Well, the shuttle above is one of the many that NASCAR takes to all the races...but Daytona is special...


These air conditioned shuttles stay here. They provide track tours when there are not races, and then double up during race weekends. I swear, the things we learn! Well. The track is set up, and the wheelbarrow races are about to start. Papa Joe is roaming the hood....


It is CRAZY tonight. Going to set out for the races...just you wait!!

Friday late afternoon

The announcer came over the track loudspeaker and told us to look in the sky and we could see the jet stream from a rocket just launched from Cape Canaveral. So we did, and here is what we saw...

The book I am reading today.. Currently, Papa Joe is on top of The Beast watching the cute little trucks race. Why are they so much louder than the cars? Any ideas? me, all cozy in the belly of The Beast, where I can still see the trucks through the window, when I look up for my book! happy weekend folks!!!

On our morning walk....I saw this sign...

I am so glad that my car doors open. Did you notice that when she wrecked yesterday, she took her hands off the steering wheel? Leftover from her Indy days. In Indy car racing, the steering wheel is smaller and drivers are more apt to break their wrists when they crash. So it was muscle memory and pure instinct for her to do so. How in the world do I know these things????????? See the laptop on top of her car? They were working on her car for quite awhile with it... This is her backup car.


Figuring it all out I guess. Well, let's certainly hope so.


Unbelievable...really, that is all I can say. Papa Joe acted like he didn't know me...thought she would beat me to a pulp I guess. Naw, she was chain smoking, I could outrun and out scream her!

Walking home, I caught the Blue Angels practicing. Beautiful sight. Nationwide practice going on now...So far, Danica has the pole and Papa Joe is doing his happy dance!
