Race Day

Race day has arrived with a rather rainy forecast....not again! The stands already had people in them along the back stretch...at 9:00 a.m.


We walked over to the garages and on our way we saw the Duck Dynasty Pontoon pulling in to dock in our front yard!!


And there was Willie, posing with fans

Kyle Busch's crew was cooking again...not hot dogs chopped up in macaroni this time. Today it was ham. A step up for the Great American Race!

Wheelbarrow Races

While work continues on the track, some of NASCAR Nation's finest gathered on a piece of asphalt on the infield for the time honored tradition of wheelbarrow races.


These races are taken quite seriously


They have an elaborate sound system


Devoted fans


Dancing girls in lieu of cheerleaders


The competition is fierce





The crashed plenty...and baring...


All in all it is great fun


Tremendously entertaining....and the later it gets,


The raunchier it gets....

Nationwide nightmare

What a race... Some diehard fans...

Yep folks, that is all that is left of the 32 car. And I saw him climb out and walk away. Thank God for the NASCAR safety measures. However, please send prayers to the fans who were injured in the stands. This scene was right in front of our seats. The wreck was 2 sections away from us. Truly, there was debris flying, it was awful.

So we needed a drink and Papa Joe made short work of

Tonight..wheelbarrow races and Papa Joe heard there are 2 stripper poles down the road..out of our gated community, of course! So he is all about finding that. Apparently some women took it very seriously and all the clothes came off. So honestly, why does Papa Joe find that interesting??? men!

Flea Market to Oysters

We kept hearing from our neighbors bout the flea market..."you must go".... So, of course, we did! Can you imagine what a flea market one mile from The World Center of Racing is like?


The parking lot is filled with the cars of NASCAR fans


These pups always ride in style. Mom had one stroller and Dad was pushing another. Ok....


So, what can you buy at a NASCAR flea market? Well, dented, broken pieces of old race cars. For just $350.00, you too can own a piece.


They also sell lots of NASCAR "stuff" but then, we hit gold!!


Farm fresh strawberries!!


And tons of wonderful produce. Happy day!

And yes, there was a truck race last night. And race fans I have failed you. Papa Joe went and watched from the pits. M, I curled up with my book, back in the neighborhood. Sorry kids! But I'm back on it today....Nationwide!
