Ruri and Alex
Saturday morning we were faced with the reality of Sandy...or Frankenstorm.

..so we took the boys grocery shopping and to the hardware store. Feeling confident that we had them as prepared as possible...we went to Annapolis for the day

Papa Joe and Cole seen here with Alex Haley...did you remember that Kunta Kinte arrived in the United States in the Annapolis harbor? I didn't.

But now I do. Annapolis is also home to

And it is also the State Capitol

Here is the State House...

Quite charming. We started with lunch...

Crab cake sandwiches...

The view from our table...

First year Naval Students..or Plebes as they are called. My question was...for the female cadets...do their shirts button on the same side as the males? Because we all know that a female blouse buttons differently than a males...

We asked, they do!

Crabs were everywhere

This was my favorite crab!!

We bought fresh olive oil and balsamic vinegar here.....delicious!
Then it was time for Oysters, Parts 2,3,4 and 5

First stop...

I popped in and out, too busy touring...and watching Sandy preparations..

Sandbags...everywhere

Oysters....

Stop 2 for the day..they too were prepared

Crab Fest...Jason showed us how to eat them...

Oysters,

Bloody Mary's

And clams

Bringing in the boats...for Sandy

A rising tide did not dampen Oyster Fest..stop 3

Did I tell you that I personally do not like oysters? So, I kept touring...what did I see?

A lovely bride

Snow White and Cinderella

A YMCA parking pass...for Greenwich, Connecticut. That is a first for me....

A big ship...

Sailboats coming in...

Another lovely bride

A great campaign bumper sticker

Cole purchased his Halloween costume

Cole bought a new shirt at stop 3. On to stop #4

Cole got an Oyster Shooter...

I think he ended up regretting that one

Love the way they stacked their hats...

Aren't they darling?

Still smiling after all those darn oysters......then on to

Kilwins for fudge! A Michigan based company..

Saw this guy walking down the street..with a crowbar. Hoping it was for a Halloween costume....well, maybe that would not be a good idea either....

At the end of the day we were all dog tired.....a great day, a great trip!
