Michigan International Speedway

Two years ago, Papa Joe and I went to Talladega, for the fall race. We thought it would be a great American adventure. Well, it was an adventure. Papa Joe had done the research and found a great looking campground, that appeared to be Beast Worthy. The literature looked great... Nope. Not even close...it resembled the set of Deliverance. We had a rusted out dinghy in our "back yard." our neighbors, well, they NEVER got out of their pajama pants, and were seldom without a beer. Their dog Buck? By the end of the day, they called him #uck, if you get my drift. I could not even make this up. Once was enough. We need never return to Talladega. We read up on the beautiful Irish Hills of Michigan, arriving this morning...excited and eager to park and set up camp....

We have reservations in the infield...much more secure, exciting, fun. We like the ease of the infield, the experience at Daytona was great. My point??? Michigan has all motor homes parked in a field, some have been here for days waiting for the infield gates to open, then I am told it takes all night to find your spot. The thing is...we are lined up with old school busses, travel trailers, pick up trucks...waiting for the magic hour of 4pm so we can all storm in...

The Beast misses it's neighbors from Daytona. So here we sit, with our new neighbors...

Waiting to get in...grateful we stopped at the grocery store and Sam's this morning...this race track is in The middle of nothing!!!!! I have seen so amazing tattoos that totally covered all visible body parts...still feeling a bit timid with the camera...give me some time. You are going to see some amazing pictures this weekend...the excitement is starting to build!!!!!
something I learned today? Michigan has covered cart corrals...lots of snow up here. That is a good thing!!!!
