This time it's us...on the road again

Papa Joe and I got in the car

At noon...with our lunch

And headed east....

Saw this license plate somewhere in Ohio....come on America...buy American!!

We made it to DC...where I headed downtown to see my boy...and rode his bus home with him. No, he is not a bus driver....this is the bus he rides to and from work when he is not biking in

We hung out in his neighborhood..

And met Ruri and Alex for dinner

We saw restaurants growing their herbs in flannel bags out front

I have never seen that before. I tried to find Cole a girlfriend...

She was taken...not by a dog, by a cute man. Darn.
Today...I hit my favorite needlepoint store

And then we had to go to Papa Joe's favorite

Yep, again!!!

Back downtown to take Cole to lunch...we saw

occupy DC....gotten rather small. We also saw...

And of course...

Lunch. Then Papa Joe and I played tourists....

China town....

I rather liked all the signs....

And of course this one....

Then we saw alot of activity...

Streets being blocked off....

Suiting up...

The big dogs were there....

Employees and guests removed from the hotel....

Everything was roped off....just a chemical spill. I say just because I was thinking bombs, terrorists, you know, Midwestern imagination running rampant....just chemicals. Oh well.
So we decided to go tourist ALL the way...double decker bus... Yes, you read that correctly...

Up top. I thought I saw a murdered man!!! Drama, intrigue!!!

Then he moved...

Not murdered...

Tired or homeless...perhaps both!

So this is the Christopher Columbus Memorial in front of Union Station. The figure on the left is a native American representing the new world, the sphere on the top represents Mr. Columbus' view that the world was round, the man himself in the center. Who knew I could give a History lesson? Ok, so the tour bus had an audio tape playing....

Look! The is Papa Joe's new tractor...in DC!

Someone is having a party...on top of a building...where is my invite???

Another party...on the National Mall...with those fancy porta potty's by Koehler...and again...no invite!!! And you do know, that the National Mall is the symbolic heart of America, right???

A nice view of the Capitol

There were, of course, other options for touring the city....

Still chose the double decker bus! Great views...and only a few branches hit us in the head.

The American Indian Museum...outside...

Their garden....

Air and Space Museum

Waved to Ray and Joan as we drive by.....would have loved for The Director to emerge from the building as we cruised by so I could yell "hi Ray!"

The Smithsonian Castle

The Washington Monument...duh, like you didn't know. But, did you know that it took over 30 years to complete this monument? And if you look closely you will see where construction halted briefly and when it resumed, the new stone was a different color.

Bureau of Engraving and did you know that the $100.00 bill is the largest bill printed?

The Jefferson Memorial...Thomas Jefferson's likeness graces the $2.00 bill and the nickel. I never paid attention...I will now!

The back of the Martin Luther King Memorial. This is sad...this monument was MADE IN CHINA! Really? Come on America...shame!

The Einstein Memorial...who knew? Popular dude though....

Crossing the Potomac on the Arlington Memorial Bridge...the bridge is the symbolic link between the North and The South. The Lincoln Memorial facing Robert E. Lee's home. Also the Lincoln Memorial looks down on the statue of Ulysses S. Grant....symbolic of the Commander in Chief looking down at his military leader. Didn't know that til today either. These double decker bus tours...founts of knowledge!

The sobering sights of Arlington National Cemetary

Ok, so who would picnic there? Ok, so maybe we used to take Dairy Queen to Diamond Grove...but...and by the way, our bus was idling....
And then, I got sidetracked...and the tape on the bus broke...maybe for the same reason I was sidetracked....could be....

Need a better view!?! Ok....since you asked nicely...

Moving on...yes, I really must...move on...but have you EVER???? Quite a giddy up in that gate....QUITE. Ok...moving on...
Dinner with dear friends....

Cole, Andy, Erin and Papa Joe. Yes. They are Statler children as in children of Jean Coultas from Jacksonville

Jean, Bill and Erin. Erin made the dinner...delicious and Andy did the dishes...impressive. paying attention Maggie, Cole and Mad???? IMPRESSIVE!

Location:Macomb St NW,Washington,United States
