What a way to end the summer....

Amazing Sunsets on the shores of lake Michigan

Times spent with great friends...

Shelley and Jay Wessler

Kelly, sweet Avery and Pete

Mary and Sue. Yeah, Mary was having issues with her sunglasses

Kirsten and Fin

Walks on the beach....with lifelong friends

Paying tribute to the life of a dear friend, Kelsey.

Dance parties in the kitchen....a nightly occurrence
Relaxing on the sandbar with friends....this is a first...beach chairs on the sandbar.

Jon, Archer and Cole

Cole, Van and Jon....all DC friends.

Walks in the harbor.....watching the Badger arrive
And then an amazing rehearsal dinner....

Three of my favorites who were also wedding participants....

JJ, Mad, Jake, Cole, John and Jay. Still one of my proudest moments ever was when Jay told me that Maggie and Adam's wedding was "the best wedding EVER"
Ok, so he as somewhat intoxicated....but still, I am proud! This guy knows parties...so to have the biggest party I have ever thrown rank, well, woo hoo!

But back to the Rehearsal Dinner...Like I said, amazing.....all this in Ludington...at the AM Gallery. Somers created a fabulous setting for the perfect rehearsal dinner...

The flowers....the wedding planner came from Chicago with all of these treasures...flowers, furniture, truffles and more!

Jon, Susie and Cole....lifelong friends...Cole and Jon are fraternity brothers and now DC roommates. Susie, a Michigander now living deep in the heart of Texas.

Cole and Jim. Jim, upon meeting Jake for the first time said "nice to meet you Jake, maybe next time you will shave." we love Jim! And Jake too!
More time on the beach...

Fin and Jake...sandcastles were a daily fixture for these two. Thank God for Jake. Every time they would finish...Henry the Terrible would walk over and destroy....and after a mild meltdown from Fin, the rebuilding began.

Henry in a happy moment...you can thank the licorice...well, the part that made it into his tummy....

Licorice droppings...courtesy of Henry. And then, he had some competition...

The wedding....was truly so sweet...

My participants...on a perfect summer day

Cole and Adam. Why is Cole in every picture you ask? I guess because I miss him throughout the year... ???

The groom and bride...

Shelley and baby Adam

Dance party in public...chocolate icing on my dress....yep, I am classy! But who cares, I had fun! And my son actually asked me to dance...a rarity!

Fin got the party started. Such a shy girl.

The very blog worthy Emily with Mad and Jake

Maggie, Stacy, the lovely bride and Jessie

It was a perfect setting....

More amazing flowers....

My sweet babies...all together, and all clean. Rare!

Summer memories that will last all year...

Some rather impressive guests hit the resort...
Congressman Latham from Iowa, Mr. Speaker....John Boehner (with an amazing security detail....the Epworth security thought the Secret Service dudes were rather amazing...), our friends Kelly and Janice, Senator Richard Burr from North Caroline (another summer friend) and Senator Saxby Chambliss from Tennessee. Cole, Adam, Jake and cousin John hit golf balls into Lincoln Lake with these esteemed guests. Yes, Cole was in political heaven...he was able to talk to them all about his work, Luther and golf. I hear Cole had a rather massive slice going on when he hit. Talk about impressive.
But a truly wonderful way to end a perfect week....in our favorite place.

Back home, and I hit the farm to check on the fireplace progress. Plus I brought rocks from Michigan...for the fireplace

No, not the big pile on the left...try the little pile on the right....but they are REALLY pretty...well. As far as rocks go.

The new sidewalk will be great....and leads you right to...the soon to be fireplace...

Taking shape!

The beams and beaded board for the ceiling.

Millie went to the US Open...without me!

Location:Ludington, Michigan
