Last night in Michigan

More about traditions...Venetian Night at Epworth is a time honored tradition. Every year we crown the Epworth Queen. Voted on by the entire resort. Each cottage gets 2 votes. My aunt, cousin, sisters, myself and Madeline have all been the Epworth Queen. In the big scheme, it means a whole lot of nothing, but it is great fun!!

And then the Venetian night parade...not in boats but wagons

Great fun...great traditions....

There's no place like my favorite place on earth...

This wagon is 28 years old...I used to pull Maggie in it nightly in the summer...then Cole, the Madeline. Happy day seeing my granddaughter riding in it on our morning walk...yep, in her boots....

It was another gorgeous day...

Last night, we continued the theme of the day...friends! We had a small dinner party....

I must admit, the marinated goat cheese was delicious!

Maggie's sausage bread, or as Jamey called it...meat bread

Molly, Maggie and Jesse

We love our summer friends!

Last day at the beach for the year...so sad...

My brother in law...a great day for a sail...

My darling son in law, painting Finley's nails on the beach.

4:00 pm and Finley instinctively knew it was popsicle time...she headed up to Monty's porch...

Score one for Fin!!!

It doesn't get much better than this...

All about friends...

My father grew up spending his summers here. As a child he had polio and the doctors encouraged the Michigan climate for him in the summers. So my grandchildren are the fifth generation in my family to summer here.

Finley and Jet are carrying on that tradition...

Mommies...Maggie and Molly...have been friends since birth...and now their children are forming friendships. Molly's mom and I have been friends always as have Sue's parents and my parents. And their parents before them. And so it goes...what a wonderful place this is..friendships that last five generations and beyond.
Last night friends from home stopped by...

Addie and Millie

Harmy and Jeff. Jeff's parents and my parents are also lifelong friends...

John and Adam...Adam and Maggie have been friends since birth also....a third generation friendship. So nice to have them here. They are headed to Traverse City to celebrate Jeff's mother's 90th birthday...Happy Birthday Gratia!
